German twin seat fighter Floatplane

The Microaces Hansa-Brandenburg W12 kit replicates one of the most successful German naval float planes of WWI. Not only is the unusual configuration of the aircraft tail, the floats and strut-work accurately modeled, but we've gone to great lengths to include intricate details that make this kit a worthy static display model as well as an excellent scale radio controlled flyer.

Making History

The aircraft represented in this NEW livery for 2026 is that of the initial protoypes tested in Jan/Feb of 1917 flown by Walter Stagge. He initially experienced instability in the aircraft, even having to jettison ballast from the aircraft in flight to ensure a safe landing. This was resolved by some rapid overnight engineering that moved the upper wing rearward by 350mm. The aircraft is in it's varnished ply and doped linen livery prior to any service paint scheme being applied.

The Hansa Brandenburg W.12 was very sparsely rigged with very few flying wires, instead relying on its structure and A-frame strut configuration. This makes the Microaces kit an ideal choice for those that enjoy an involved and comprehensive build but aren't keen on all that string!

6 cylinder Mercedes D.III engine head, distinctive exhaust stack and radiator cap
2 x Early Spandau LMG 08/15 machine guns
Parabellum MG14 machine gun & mounting ring

To complete the kit for radio controlled flight, you will need an All In One (AIO) BRUSHLESS Receiver that's compatible with your transmitter.

Optional Float Wheels

The kit comes with the option to build integrated 'hidden' wheels into the floats so the aircraft can be flown off water or the smooth surface of a sports hall.

We have also created a Static Display Pack of beaching dollies and a support trestle set. It closely replicates the hardware used to move and store the real aircraft. This is available as an optional extra and can be viewed and added HERE or by clicking on the image below.
